Hi, I’m Stephanie Ashcroft, founder of Mama’s Lil’ Helper.

I live in Adelaide with my husband and two daughters who are primary school aged. My husband and I moved to Adelaide in 2012 from Melbourne. I have two decades of experience working with children and families. I’ve worked in childcare centres, as a support worker in Child Protection and as a Private Nanny.

I absolutely love working with Children and different families and what I have learned is how rewarding it is to work in an industry that truly helps families . As much as I’ve loved working in all those different roles, I have to say becoming a mother and choosing to be a stay at home mum is my best role yet, and also probably the most challenging!

That is why I founded Mama’s Lil’ Helper! I know first hand how important mothers’ and all parents need a service to turn to when they just need some extra help. Parenting can be very hard even under the best circumstances. I truly believe families need a childcare service that is more flexible and tailored to them. Families are getting busier and everyone’s family life looks so different to each others. I want to bridge the gap in the childcare market and provide a service that makes a difference to peoples everyday lives.

Why I love to work with kids?

I am often asked why I love to work with children? It’s simple, because I love it, it’s the best job in the world!

Working with children can be one of the most challenging, yet rewarding, careers. As you care for and teach children, you’ll build strong bonds that will stay with you forever. Making an impact on their lives, helping them grow and learn about the world around them.

I get a chance to be creative too! I have a background in Art and I love to paint and draw. I love using this tool to help children use their imaginations, and it helps me to create stimulating, educating and fun activities they will love.

Working with children and being a mother has brought more joy to my life than I can explain. The crazy things they say, the cuddles, the silliness and the laughs, to me, that’s what makes it all worth it!

Children teach me how to see the world from a new perspective. They help me stay in the present and keep me curious about life.
